FGF-20 is a heparin binding protein of the FGF family which works to control cell division, differentiation, and function. These proteins are especially prominent during prenatal development and postnatal growth. FGF-20 shares a high degree of homology with FGF-9 and FGF-16. The group of receptors which FGF-20 binds to comprises of FGFR1c, FGFR2c, FGFR3b, FGFR3c and FGFR4. It is shown that FGF-20 is found in a variety of cells, including but limited to, dopaminergic neurons, fibroblasts, keratinocytes and breast epithelium.
